Subject Issues with drivability after Tranny flush and new Torque

Message converter.

So, i recently purchased a new torque converter from precision industries with a 3200 stall. The fluid i used to replace the old stuff was Valvoline Max Life Dex/Merc ATF, the one in the red bottle.

Now, most of the time through 1st gear, the engine races like its been shoved into neutral. even at about 25% throttle this will happen. And today, as i was testing to see how it ran, coming up a hill and taking a turn in 1st gear it sort of pulsated as if it were engaging then disengaging.

My questions are, did i use the wrong ATF, and if so what should i use.

And, could my 1st gear be glazed and or gone?
